Thermal Impact Analysis of a Power Station Discharge

For the Connecticut River Watershed Council, HydroAnalysis conducted a review and analysis of the thermal impacts of a major power plant on ambient water temperature in the Connecticut River. HydroAnalysis compared the power plant’s regulatory submittal documents to Clean Water Act Section 316b and NPDES permit requirements and provided an expert report documenting the power plant’s regulatory compliance record. This project featured a modeling review, analyses of large sets of river flow and water temperature data in the Connecticut River from Vermont to Long Island Sound, and sworn testimony before the Vermont Public Service Board. The HydroAnalysis’ expert thermal review received high praise and was credited with supporting revisions to the power plant’s thermal discharge authorization.
